Tried these charcoal versions out because they are priced less than the regular OEM filter. It’s working as expected and if anything changes during use, I will update it. The only thing I foresee is I won’t be able to see how dirty and brown the filter is when I go back to change it the next time like the way the white ones show.

I have two filters in parallel feeding the house. I’ve been using filters for about 25 years or so and these seem to be the best quality filters so far. I used to buy mine at either of the two big box stores and they were never this “dense” and substantial. The flow through them appears to be great and I use them mainly for sediment/calcium removal along with removal of a rust particulate and they seem to work great.

Update: I’m adding 2 stars for customer service. After I posted my review, PUREPLUS reached out to me. While there was no technical solution, they were concerned and very responsive and did what they could to keep the customer happy. I sent photos so they could see the issue and feedback has been shared with their engineering team. Very responsive customer support.

Very hard well water. High iron and calcium content. Easy to change them. Some of my neighbors have very expensive water systems. And their water still tastes nasty. I also use a water pitcher with a filter. No heavy bags of salt to carry up and down stairs.
