If you can get your appliance to work without the chipped manufacturer’s overpriced filtre, these alternate filtres are a great value.

They are significantly less expensive than the filters with the chip. The “life hack” in order to use these is pretty simple and well worth it to fight back against the refrigerator water filter cartel. Take the bypass filter that came with the refrigerator and locate the chip, carefully remove and tape to the inside the the refrigerator filter compartment at the approximate location it would be if still on the filter cartridge. The refrigerator thinks the bypass is installed but the filter will still filter the water. You will not get a reminder to change the filter so that’s on you, recommend setting up your phone to prompt the change.

I have been using 3rd party filters for a while because the ones from GE are too expensive. The brand I had been using were not available, so I tried these filters this time. I had no problem, they fit just like the OEM ones and seem to work just as well. If you think the OE filters are too expensive, I recommend trying these instead!
