They work well, I use in a whole house filter. Keeps the water clean of sediment from the town line. I use an additional fridge filter for taste and smaller particles, but shower and tap water is good with this filter. Doesn’t disintegrate like some I’ve tried in the past.

I’ve been using these for the last few years and they work well.
When they are discolored it’s time to replace them. For 3500 gal per month I’m changing them every 2 – 3 months depending on the quality of the water I get from my water company.

I used to buy filters from a big box store. The filters used to be 2 micron, then changed to 5 micron, then no marking at all. I looked them up on the company website and found what I had been purchasing were 20-30 micron, which explained the stains and grit we were experiencing. This filter was an 1/8 of an inch longer than what my GE Smart water replacements had been so it took a bit more twisting of the housing to get it to seal properly. I will continue to purchase these, so in the future I will cut them down so as not to strain the housing when changing filters. The flow rate was identical to the GE filters I had been using. I have no way to determine if they are filtering down to 5 microns. If we experience the staining and grit like the GE filters I will update this review, but at this point so far so good.
