I am on well water and I use this filter as the first filter. It filters most of the solid particles from the well water. I also used this as a second filter.

The three pack is a great value. The string wound filters do a great job of sediment filtering. We live on a farm and have our own well. Our only problem is fine grain sediment, and this filter does a fantastic job of filtering the sediment without reducing the water pressure to the house. It should be noted that this filter has no chemical properties and would not be effective in reducing odors or bad taste if that is your issue.
