This filter fits standard whole house water filter system, just as good as expensive brand name filters. Will definitely buy again!

I built a new house and had a whole house water filter put in. It consists of a 10 inch big blue cartridge and a filter inside. The builder put in a paper filter and I used it for about 7 months. I decided to take the cartridge apart and check the filter. The paper was brown with little white specs. When the house was new, I noticed that the water had a slight odor to it. I decided to get a new filter that would filter even further down the micron number than paper and I wanted to try to see if activated carbon would take care of the odor. I looked around and decided on the PUREPLUS because it filters at 5 microns and has activated carbon consisting of coconut shells. I discarded the old filter, washed out the cartridge and installed one of the PUREPLUS filters. At first the water turned a little black as was expected. It took only about two minutes to clear up. No more odor. Taking showers is much better without the odor and sediment. What I like is that you get two filters which should last about a year. These filters have changed my water quality to clearer and no odor. Best of two worlds!

Does a great job. We can usually get 8 months out of 1 filter. I will try and take a photo of the next used filter. It gets pretty dark – so we know it’s doing what a filter should do. We have a cistern and use this filter between water coming in off the tank prior to running through the water softening system. Very happy with product. Easy to install and have never had a negative issue to report. Flavor is just fine – especially coming in off a cistern, very impressed.
